Mission of the Journal BJCVS is intended to publish representative studies on cardiovascular surgery, including original and pioneers articles, updates, case reports and also studies presented at the National Congress of Cardiac Surgery. Thus, BJCVS has an important role in the dissemination of clinical experience and research results from Services of Cardiovascular Surgery in Brazil and abroad. Profile of the Journal and Editorial Policy The Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery (BJCVS), founded in 1986 and published continuously since then, is the official journal of the Brazilian Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, which represents approximately 1000 cardiac surgeons in the country. It is a quarterly publication, with an average of 560 pages and 80 articles per year (ISSN print edition 0102-7638). The Brazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery has adopted the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, organized by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). The Editorial Board is composed of experts from national and international reputation, with regular scientific production at BJCVS and international journals. Many of these reviewers compose the Editorial Board of international journals of prominent and recognized arbitration. Most members of the editorial board maintain links with universities from various States of Brazil, on which 84% of them were PhD and/or Full Professors. Prior to publication, all articles undergo a rigorous process of review and arbitration as a means to ensure their standard of quality and neutrality in the selection of studies published.
